Your post brings to mind an experience I had. It happened when I was df and had been back groveling at meetings for many months. Everyone knew I was soon to be reinstated. I happened to walk right past one of the dorky dubs (a guy I knew well) in a store and he just ignored my like I was dead. Not even any other dorks around to cause problems and this guy was doing his duty.
The real kicker is he was not even good at being a dub. He was about an hour a month to stay active dub.

funny k.h experience last night!!
by jazz inmy wife and i have not been attending the meetings on a regular basis do to her failing health and man did i get the cold shoulder from people last night even a brother who was so nice when he was a lowly publisher or m.s who is now an elder gave me the cold shoulder when i asked him for the lapel cards and holders for the convention he kept saying you should have gotten them from your book study.
i think he said it five times so another elder came over to convince him to finally give me the cards its a shame because this same brother turns cartwheels and is all smiles when he comes across us in the street i guess having some type of authority does change you i dont even want to talk to him again.

Sexual Morality in OT & NT
by AlanF insexual morality in the old testament differs from that in the new testament .
conservative christians like the jehovah's witnesses often claim that, like the new testament, the old testament forbids all sexual relations outside marriage, including relations between unmarried people.
that is not quite true.

Hi Al Baby,
Have you ever studied dispensational theology? Are you aware that there are different periods of time where God dealt (and deals) with mankind?
Are you also aware of the various prophibitions in the New Testament, which are our ultimate guideline for today's moral behavior? Your whole post is moot. All of that typing for nothing.
Have a nice day,

Hi COMF!
We tried laying hands on her about two weeks ago. God did not choose to heal her in that fashion. I have seen even worse health problems healed, some healings leave the doctors 'scratching their heads', most are healed by the care of physician's healing hands.
This is something the cultic xtians miss in their fervent misuse of scripture...denying the many paths to healing for the charismatic one.
Then you have the flip side, like my mom who has been totally brainwashed by the Borg about the spiritual gifts still in use today.
She has a spinal illness that will eventually kill her and won't let us even try a healing (she is now saved though still in the Borg because of my father). It went into remission once for a few years and we were praying hard for her...from a distance.
Keep being nice to your mom, bro. At least she is not in the Borg.

We will never have the same beliefs as we are each a unique individual. One of the big mistakes of the Borg is their suppression of our personhood. This prevents the spiritual abilities of each one from reaching his or her full potential.
I saw something tonight in our church that really floored me.There is a lady who has serious eye problems that have not been healed. She has been frantically lining up coverage for a cornea (repair or transplant?) but her last problem was the doctor wanted $1600 UP FRONT! Can you believe that? No money, no operation.
Our pastor found out about it and brought it before the church at the start of praise service (someone had her in the fellowhip hall during this time). We took up a 'love offering' (about 50 people there) after the song, "Shout to the Lord".
She came into the sanctuary with her eye patch on as another fellow and I went back to count the money. After a few more songs the pastor again took the stage and he announced, "God has done a lot of wonderful works in our church (He asked for some of the ladies to stand by the lady with the eye problem). Tonight we were able to raise $1615 for our dear sister 'so and so' to have her eye operation done ASAP."
She is such a fine lady, raising her grandaughter as her own and she was overcome with tears of joy. We were all right there in the same boat of joyful emotion. This is what Christian charity is all about. This is the clarion call of Christ to believers who are true to His words, "You shall know them by their love, one to another". Does it prove anything? No, but who cares? Having this kind of love can come out of people who share a common bondage as servants of Christ.
I don't think I ever saw a 'love offering' from a KH. I did see individuals Witnesses behave in a similiar spirit of love but not as a group.
I am sure there are many here who would do the same thing. Some whom I have argued with using slings and arrows (or maybe swords and halberds?) LOL
Praise the Lord!
Take it easy,

Don't feel sorry for me, old friend.
I am seeing the evidence of our Lord in my daily walk with Him. I have seen cancer healed with no explanation from doctors as to how. I have seen people scarred by terrible lives recover and become a 'new creation' simply by taking the free offer of salvation:
(from a previous post)
"Have you thought about his future and yours? Remember, salvation is by faith alone (Eph. 2.8,9) and the faith that saves is in Christ Jesus (John 14.6, 3.16, Romans 10.9-11) while the alternative is 'death', which is always understood in the N.T. as 'hell, the separation from God for an eternity (Romans 3.23, 6.23). All you have to do is admit you are a sinner, in need of the redemption offered by the 'blood of the lamb', believe that He died for your sins and rose on the third day, repenting of your sins and asking Jesus to come into your life as your personal saviour."
We just got back from a mission trip on the border of Virginia and West Virginia. We went to try and help a congregation of mostly older Christians restore their evangelism and compassion for a inner city community in an area that has less than $10,000 a year average income.
We saw the results of our youth team's performances, our sermons, our outreach of free bags of groceries to people in need, the beginning recovery of alcoholism and drug abuse.
We went into a violent area that became surprisingly peaceful to real Christians who proclaimed the gospel of Jesus Christ. Teenaged white girls walking freely in an urban ghetto and not one word of disprespect or threat. The youth even performed on the porch of a man unable to leave his house due to age and emphysema.
One thing from my story that people miss is that from the very beginning of my finding out about the Borg, I endeavored to pray for God to answer my questions. This happened at my lowest point and things were gradually revealed until I accepted my salvation.
Do I have every question answered? No.
The big difference between me and many of you is that I give God the benefit of the doubt. You and others have never unlearned the rationalism of JW thought, nor have you learned that REAL Christianity is being slandered and misrepresented just like everything else the WTS writes about.
Keep in mind the very visible ex-JWs that still remain faithful to God and have not at all concluded as many here have.
May God Bless you,

Is F. Ragets still at Bethel, anyone?

This is a total 'shot in the dark'. I was wondering if anyone knows of him. He went to Bethel in '75 (I think). He was a class valedictorian, he had numerous full ride scholarships offered and would not accept any due to his desire to Pioneer. I know that he had a brother follow him in but I lost contact after that, about ten years ago.
I often think of him in a sad way. He got married there and is still probably doing time and serving in some New york City congo. I wonder if he is one of the insiders who remain but know the score or if he is some bitter, disgruntled dub who is moaning over his wasted life.
He was no dummy and I wonder when he figured out it was all a sham.

Hi Friend,
A child is surely a blessing from God. Have you thought about his future and yours? Remember, salvation is by faith alone (Eph. 2.8,9) and the faith that saves is in Christ Jesus (John 14.6, 3.16, Romans 10.9-11) while the alternative is 'death', which is always understood in the N.T. as 'hell, the separation from God for an eternity (Romans 3.23, 6.23). Al you have to do is admit you are a sinner, in need of the redemption offered by the 'blood of the lamb', believe that He died for your sins and rose on the third day, re[penting of your sins and asking Jesus to come into your life as your personal saviour.

What is "Right?"
by Farkel ini responded to your comments on another post, but i feel this issue is just too important and deserves its own thread.. -----------------------------------------------------.
: even the most righteous believer of god would tend to quote abraham: is the judge of all the earth not going to do what is right?
(gen 18:25).

Still can't get out of the literal rationalist mode, can you Farkel?
You probably don't even realize that the story of Abraham and Isaac is a picture or 'type' of Christ. The account was written for the understanding of people throughout the ages but it was made understandable to ancient bedouins. THEY used terms that applied to themselves before anyone had any concept of 'omnipotence, omnipresent, omniscient' that we understand today. The events tell the story of ABRAHAM'S FAITHFULLNESS, not the attributes of God.
Just like 'God was walking through the garden in the breezy part of the day' is not a statement of the full nature of God, nor is the account where Jacob 'wrestled' with God (this is understood to be an appearance of the Angel of God, Jesus Christ, before He came as messiah, as is the previous Genesis account). This is another example of how and why the forces of atheism are constantly 'spinning their wheels' over non-issues that have already been explained by apologists over the CENTURIES since the last book of the Bible was written.
JW-rationalism is a left over from the 19th century. It's intent is to insist their is an explanation satisfying to all for every Biblical statement. Mystery is inherent in any work that comes from man translating the inspiration of God into the thoughts and terms of ancient hebrews.

Flat earth myths of Alan F
by Rex B13 inman, even pagan man, has always known that the earth was a sphere!
the hebrews knew it first, because god told them six times in the old testament that the earth was a sphere.
that was sufficient for believers!

Just bringing this to the top to show the callous, arrogant, insulting diatribes that result from direct opposition to the assertions of atheists.
Whine all you want boys, your 'flat earth' concepts are exposed for all to see!"The story which has become so much a part of American history textbooks; the story that Columbus was warned that he would fall off the edge of the earth if he sailed west: well, that story is the invention of a struggling American author of fiction - Washington Irving (1783-1859). Yes, the story of the flat earth and Columbus is the work of the author of the Sketch Book (1820), which included his stories of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (The Headless Horseman) and Rip Van Winkle.
(This sounds a little like our self-proclaimed elite intellectual Alan, who by his own claims has disproven a myriad of Biblical concepts. This comes from a man who still supports the doctrinal assertions of C.T. Russell, like no literal hell, no immortal soul and no trinity!)
Today we find it hard to believe, but in the early years of our country there were few national heroes. When we broke our ties to England we also broke our ties to the heroes of centuries past. One of the persons who helped to fill that void was Columbus. Note the large number of capitol cities named after Columbus - Columbia, SC; Columbus, Oh; and the District of Columbia.
Irving was born in New York City. In 1815, he moved to Europe. He lived in France and Spain until 1832. While in Spain he translated a collection of manuscripts concerning Columbus voyage. In 1828, he published a largely fictional work entitled The Life and Voyages of Christopher Columbus.
Irving described himself as "apt to indulge in the imagination." The obvious problem being that readers of The Life and Voyages of Christopher Columbus could not possibly tell what was fact and what was fiction. For example, his description of the Council of Salamanca was a complete fabrication.
In 1834, Antoine-Jean Letronne (1787-1848), produced a more scholarly work attempting to tie the belief in a flat earth with the early church fathers, Revue des Deux Mondes. He was educated in the teachings of Mentelle and Voltaire. In 1798, he wrote a book claiming that Jesus Christ was an imposter. In Revue he wrote that the flat earth was the majority view of the early Christian writers. His statements were untrue, but liberal scholars have quoted him for almost two centuries. Between Irving and Letronne the flat earth myth became a "well-known fact."
(Why does Alan hide the fact that he was 'snookered' again?)
Two more men have served to popularize this myth. In 1874, John W. Draper wrote an antichurch diatribe entitled History of the Conflict Between Religion and Science. In 1865, Andrew D. White became cofounder of the first explicitly secular university in the U. S., Cornell University. In 1897, he wrote History of the Warfare of Science with Theology in Christendom. Both men were attempting to discredit creationists in the battle over origins.
J. B. Russell wrote Inventing the Flat Earth: Columbus and Modern Historians, 1991. He is no creationist, but he thoroughly documents how the invention of the flat earth was a direct attack against God, the history of the Church and truth in general by secular humanists who were attempting to defend the idea of Christian ignorance versus enlightened rationalists (evolutionists)."
Stay on the subject, JWs, don't try the old 'dodge and run'.
Have a nice day!
